To All KS3 Parent/Carers who
are eligible for Free School Meals
Dear Parent/Carer,
The Home Access Grant
The government are about to launch
a new Home Access Grant to provide a free, brand new, high spec PC and
one year internet access for low income families. The programme
aims to benefit more than 270,000 households by March 2011.
The eligibility criteria are
as follows:
Child in Key Stage 3 and the
family fits one of the following criteria:
- The child qualifies for free school meals
- Parent/carer(s)
- On income support
- Receives income-based job seekers allowance
- Have guaranteed pension credit
- Have an income related employment support allowance
- Receives support under part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act
All parent/carers who are eligible
will be required to fill in a form in order to apply.
We will be holding small group
sessions in January to help families complete the forms. The available
funds will be distributed on a first come, first served basis.
We will inform you as soon as application forms become available.
If you feel that you are eligible
for this grant, our advice would be to hold fire on any purchases before
Christmas. Why spend money when the same product will be available
through the grant.
