Brislington Community Partnership – Land Survey Zone 5.1 |
|||
|
5.1 – St Annes Keywords/phrases: Railway, residential, industrial, warehouse,
office, river front SummaryThis area is predominantly
residential to the north and east with a large swathe of light industrial and
warehousing fronting the River Avon to the northwest. Again it is
disappointing that the majority of river frontage is dedicated to warehousing
and light industry as this would otherwise be a huge potential for
residential mixed use accommodation and even recreation opportunities. The existing mainline
London to Bristol railway cuts the site diagonally NW- SE and the East Depot
is predominantly used as a universal steel storage area. St Anne’s park is worthy of
mention as it is the only major green space on this site. To the south east of the
site there exists some good opportunities for extending the existing
community facilities and possible recreational development. TopographyThe A4 is replaced by the
railway cut which is a good 20m below the brow of St Anne’s Park which sites
isolated on top of the hill that rises steeply from the river valley to the
north of the site. |

2. The Sutton Estate
|
|||
|
One of the entrances is opposite the
Bloomfield Inn.
Although relatively new it still appears to
be very well cared for and quite well designed for this type of housing. The
concepts of the William Sutton Estate ensure onsite local management and
maintenance and the provision of an estate office, which may account for its
upkeep and general tidiness. The majority of housing on this estate is 3
bedroom family housing and 1-2 bedroom apartments so a sustainable mix of
housing is provided. For more information

4. Wick Road Community Centre and youth club
|
|||
|
The site currently has no
planning permission pending.
To the rear of the property is a small playing pitch with further land behind that is unused and badly maintained. Some lock up garages that border the south of this site, are blocked from access by car. This land could be used for extending the community and youth club recreational facilities or even a mixed use residential scheme. |
